As Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Global Solutions Delivery and divisional Information Risk Management teams at Manulife Financial, Sebastian is recognized for fostering creativity and excellence throughout his global organization.

One of his most recent achievements at the firm is the creation of the new innovation capability known as LOFT: Lab of Forward Thinking. Through this initiative, Sebastian is bringing together creative minds to work collaboratively in hub-like environments across the globe, leveraging technologies to bring new ideas to life, solve challenging problems and accelerate projects that will add value for Manulife’s customers and differentiate the firm from its competitors. Sebastian is responsible for the oversight and management of Investment Division’s application services and Information Risk Management. This includes maximizing investment scale to grow profitably, managing Information Services operations and operational risk, as well as Information Management.

Previously, Sebastian was Chief Technology Officer and Head of Information Services of Investment Division, where he was responsible for driving business-aligned technology strategies for the Investment Division. Before that, he was Vice President, General Fund Investment Systems, where he established a strategic framework for business architecture along with the enabling technology platform. Through a number of leading-edge initiatives, Sebastian helped position the organization to effectively and efficiently deliver solutions that are truly business focused and aligned.

Recognized as a specialist in the implementation of business process management and associated methodologies designed to align business and IS goals, he has been responsible for the development and establishment of a strategic framework for business architecture along with the implementation of enabling technologies platforms within the Investment Division at Manulife.

Through the implementation of leading edge tools and associated competencies such as business process management, service oriented development and architecture, he has successfully positioned the organization to effectively and efficiently deliver solutions that are truly business focused and aligned, while instituting disciplined processes and methodology across the solution development and delivery life-cycle.

Sebastian joined Manulife in 2010 from State Street, where he was the Vice President and Head of Global Technology Services Canada.
